Call Your Congressional Leaders NOW…… Even if You Feel Awkward About it

You might feel awkward calling into a Senator’s Office, but really, it can’t be any worse than what this guy is going through. If you’re hesitant to call your elected officials, you’re not alone – but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it. Significant cuts to HIV/AIDS programs are at stake, and if Congress doesn’t hear from you, then they won’t think it matters! So go on, pick up that phone even if it’s from the 80’s. It doesn’t matter what it looks like, it’s how you use it– so work it out!

 

AIDS Nurses: Congress, Don't Cut Global Health Funds!

The Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC) released a statement opposing funding cuts passed by the U.S. House.  Go, nurses!

 

Today is National ADAP Call-in Day! Demand that President Obama Address the ADAP Crisis NOW!!!

We know you’ve called and emailed, but we need to keep the pressure up. Around America, nearly 1,800 people in 10 states can’t get the HIV medications they need to stay healthy and alive because of the woefully underfunded AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP), and people with HIV in Illinois now face the same fate.

You did it! Congrats and thanks to House members & Pres. Obama!

The AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC) thanks the U.S. House of Representatives for passing historic health care reform legislation last night and the thousands of AIDS advocates in Illinois and across the country who urged this critical action. This landmark legislation will expand health care access for 32 million Americans, including hundreds of thousands with HIV.

Congress Ends Twenty Year Federal Funding Ban on Syringe Exchange

WASHINGTON, December 13, 2009 – The Senate, in a 57 – 35 vote on a six bill appropriations “minibus,” agreed to end the ban on the use of federal funds for syringe exchange.  Additionally they agreed to allow Washington D.C.
