Illinois AIDS Drug Assistance Program Update
There are two important changes to Illinois ADAP that will benefit people with HIV who get their medications from either private insurance or Medicare. In addition, a third change may make it possible for people on ADAP to afford comprehensive health insurance under the new Illinois Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan.

At a meeting of HIV advocates and services providers on April 6, Illinois AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) director Jeff Maras predicted a grim future for people with HIV in Illinois without adequate state funding.

The State Journal-Register reported October 14 that this year's state budget is $900 million higher than expected.
As AIDSConnect pointed out last week, next year's state budget is projected to reach nearly $12 billion.
