IL-ASAP is Looking for New Members!

By Terry S - Posted on 31 October 2011

Illinois Alliance for Sound AIDS Policy (IL ASAP) is a project of the AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC) to develop, nurture, and support statewide policy and advocacy leaders in Illinois.  IL ASAP exists to increase the number of people involved in HIV advocacy, and build stronger bonds within and between every region of the state.

This year, IL ASAP will choose up to five new members to join our advocacy group; members will have great opportunity and responsibility to push for fair policies regarding HIV/AIDS.

Selected participants must be willing to engage in outreach and media activities in their area of the state to educate people about HIV/AIDS policy issues and foster advocacy. Participants must have access to and be comfortable with using the internet and email; most IL ASAP communication is done electronically. They must participate in monthly teleconferences and communicate IL ASAP activities to AFC.

Participants will be eligible to attend  the 2012 AIDS Watch in Washington, DC, where they will get a chance to lobby Congress about important HIV/AIDS issues at the federal level; they will also participate in a two-day, in-person training session in late February 2012 and take part in the 2012 Illinois HIV/AIDS Lobby Day in Springfield (April 18, 2012).

Please click here to download the application. To get further details and learn more about IL ASAP at our webpage and Facebook page.

The last day to apply is Friday, December 2, 2011!
