Quality of Life HIV/AIDS Board Appointed
AFC is happy to share the great news that Governor Quinn and the Illinois Department of Public Health recently finalized appointments to the Quality of Life Board, which will oversee over $1.4 million in grants funded by the Illinois HIV/AIDS Quality of Life scratch-off lottery game. (Actually, one member had to drop out, but that position will hopefully be filled quickly.) Keep your eyes peeled for an announcement of how and when the funds will be distributed.
In the meantime, stay tuned for news of the kick-off in mid-November of the next round of Quality of Life ticket sales, which will continue through July 2010. AFC congratulates State Rep. Karen Yarbrough (D-Maywood), State Sen. Jacqueline Collins (D-Chicago) and advocates Ben Montgomery, Michael O’Connor and Mark Loveless for their vision in creating this program and bringing much-needed new funding to the fight against HIV/AIDS.
