Ramp It Up for Reform! Health Care Reform, That Is.

By jterlikowski - Posted on 09 September 2009

You have heard from us AFC policy folks a lot over the last several months about health care reform, and for good reason! Nearly half of all folks that are living with HIV can’t access the health care they need. Improving health care is essential to our community and the 47 million other people in this country who can’t get the care they need to stay healthy.

That said, we ask you to keep up the great work on responding to the alerts we send out through the network every week. We cannot send too many emails or make too many phone calls on this issue. In fact, we can even do more and it’s easy to do so. Here’s how!   1.       Forward each health care reform alert to your friends, families, colleagues at other agencies, etc. with a personal message urging them to take action!   2.       Make your facebook status all about health care reform. Announce to people that you have taken action on health care reform and link to the alert so your facebook friends can take action too. Tell them to do the same! Here’s an example: Jessica just urged President Obama to stand firm on passing a public health insurance option and asks you to do the same! Sign the petition here http://healthcareforamericanow.org/page/s/change. Now post it to your profile!   3.       Volunteer next Wednesday, September 30 from 5:30-8:00pm to call fellow Illinoisans asking they contact their members of Congress to support health care reform. We’ll have pizza!    4.       Recruit your friends to join us next Wednesday, September 30 from 5:30-8:00pm to call fellow Illinoisans asking they contact their members of Congress to support health care reform. Tell them we will have pizza!   We know many of you are already doing a lot of this and we THANK YOU! There is much we can all do, and we hope you join us in doing all that we can!   Let me know if we can count on you joining us next Wednesday and also what other great ideas you have for mobilizing our communities. RSVPs are required. Email jterlikowski@aidschicago.org to RSVP.
