TAKE ACTION: Call your leaders to end the budget crisis
Nine days into the new fiscal year, Illinois still doesn’t have a state budget in place. What does this mean for people living with HIV/AIDS and other special needs? Without state funds, agencies can’t afford to keep the staff that provides essential services to Illinoisans with complex health conditions. Many agencies have already let some staff go, while others are scrambling to keep their doors open.
Calls to your Senator and Representative are urgently needed. Call them today to urge them to 1) vote “no” to uphold the Governor’s veto of SB 1197, the “doomsday” budget bill that would have created budget cuts of 50% or greater; and 2) vote “yes” on HB 174, a responsible revenue plan that will create a lasting solution to the state’s budget problems.
