Join us in Chicago for a media advocacy training, because words & images matter.

“If they know us, they don’t vote against us.”
Harvey Milk

In 2008, a Pulse of Equality survey commissioned by GLAAD and conducted by Harris Interactive found that the feelings of 2 out 10 Americans (19%) toward gay and lesbian people have become more favorable over the past five years and that knowing someone who is gay or lesbian was a contributing factor for nearly eight in 10 (79%) whose feelings became more favorable.

How can YOUR personal story reach undecided people on LGBT issues? Join the Center on Halsted and the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) advocacy trainings in Chicago to tell our stories to build support through media advocacy.  Learn how sharing stories and becoming an ambassador of the LGBT movement will enable more and more people get to know, understand and respect the LGBT community.

Join us in Chicago for a media advocacy training, because words & images matter. We invite community members, public officials, religious and organization leaders, and parents of LGBT children to come to the training and to actively participate in becoming spokespeople for full equality. Participants will learn the basics of communications strategy, talking points, media interviews, and the power of telling their story.
