Health, Education and Recreation Day for LBTQ Women
Participate in a free day-long program featuring speakers, and workshops about women’s health and well being including a choice of the following: Yoga, Self-defense, Nutritional Cooking, CPR, Free Rapid HIV Testing, Bisexual, Transgender and Women of Color Health, Holistic Healing, and more. Complimentary breakfast and lunch.
H.E.R Day Schedule
*Free and confidential rapid HIV testing will be available throughout the entire day, from 9am - 8pm.
9am - 10:15am: Registration and light breakfast, 3rd floor
10:15am - 11:15am: Introduction of Speakers
Women and Health: Keynote Speakers Dr. Lynn Todman from the Institute of Social Exclusion, Adler School of Psychology and Helena Bushong from Chicago Women’s AIDS Project (CWAP), Hoover-Leppen Theatre
11:30am - 12:45pm: Session 1 (Select 1 Activity from the following)
- Holistic Healing 101: Auricular Acupuncture
- Bisexual Health: A Call to Action
- Older Women’s Health
- Alternative Insemination 101
- Cooking Unboring Healthy Food: Entrees
- BodyGuard: A blend of boxing, self-defense, Muay Thai, and dynamic stretching
12:45pm - 1:30pm: Lunch
Lunch will be served in the John Baran Senior Center on the 2nd floor. Feel free to eat on the 2nd or 3rd floors, or in the 1st floor lobby area.
1:30pm - 2:45pm: Session 2 (Select 1 Activity from the following)
- The Science of Gender
- Konversational Kung Fu
- Body Pump! (intermediate)
- Transgender Health
- Cooking Unboring Healthy Food: Appetizers and Desserts
- BodyGuard: A blend of boxing, self-defense, Muay Thai, and dynamic stretching
2:45pm - 3pm: Break
3pm - 4:15pm: Session 3 (Select 1 Activity from the following)
- Health for Women of Color: A Panel
- Heart Saver CPR* (class starts at 3, lasts until 5:30pm)
- Simply Yoga
- Sexual Embodiment
- Yoga Booty Ballet
