We are currently seeking individuals to assist with our Community-Based Prenatal Classes. The Community-based prenatal classes are held in various community locations throughout the city of Chicago. PACPI clients attend twelve hours of HIV-specific prenatal and reproductive health education over a consecutive course of three weeks every Wednesday from 12pm-4pm. Classes are held every 6 to 8 weeks, on average 6 classes are held annually.

 The Prenatal Class volunteer will provide assistance to the Program Coordinator in coordinating and managing on the day of the classes. Volunteers should expect to arrive to the prenatal class site at 11am and leave at 4:30pm on Wednesdays. Providing childcare is also an expectation of the volunteer position, provided that participants bring their children.

·         Childcare, as needed;

·         Assist with other tasks related to the prenatal classes

 Qualifications:

·         Background with childcare a plus

 The Pediatric AIDS Chicago Prevention Initiative was established in 2000 with the express intent of eradicating the transmission of HIV/AIDS from mother to child in the city of Chicago. Since then, we expanded our mission to include the entire state of Illinois. With a strong commitment to serving high-risk pregnant women living with HIV/AIDS, for over 10 years PACPI has provided culturally responsive case management, education, links to social services, and 24/7 support to nearly 100 women living with HIV and/or AIDS annually. PACPI is housed at 200 W Jackson with our partner organization, the AIDS Foundation of Chicago.

 Interested individuals should contact Mary Brewster, PACPI Program Coordinator.
