NEW CLINICAL TRIAL OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE

AT

RUSH UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER

• A5272 will follow HIV+ positive, treatment naive adults to observe whether they experience oral warts after they begin antiretroviral therapy. Contact the study nurse, Veronica Navarra, directly at (312) 942-7761 for details.

• A5275 looks at the use of Lipitor to reduce HIV-related inflammation among HIV-positive adults. Contact the study nurse, Tondria Green, directly at (312) 942-1954 for details.

• A5280 is for treatment naive HIV+ adults who will be starting treatment soon to see if taking vitamin D at higher doses, along with calcium, will help prevent bone loss that has been observed when patients begin HIV treatment. All study participants will start the single tablet HIV medication that contains 3 drugs: efavirenz/emticitabine/tenofovir (Atripla). . A5286 is for treatment experienced HIV+ adults to see if an antibiotic that lowers the amount of bacteria in gut, can prevent new bacteria from entering your body and reduce HIV-related inflammation. Contact the study nurse, Veronica Navarra, directly at (312) 942-7761 for details.

• Women’s Interagency HIV Study (WIHS) is for HIV+ women ages 30-55 who started HIV medications after January 1, 2005. For details, call the study nurse, Joan Swiatek, directly at (312) 942-6017.

Reminder! Transportation for study visits is reimbursed. Exams and lab tests are provided at no cost. Pharmaceuticals may be provided at no cost depending on the specific study and research requirements. Research studies also provide unique opportunities to receive an additional level of healthcare in a highly specialized HIV treatment and research environment.
